“The RUBETTESfeaturing Bill Hurd,Alex Bines andPaul Da Vinci.” with Rufus Ruffell and Billy HillThe Rubettes gained Worldwide success with their very first single “Sugar Baby Love”, sung by the legendary Paul Da Vinci. After shooting to No 1 in the UK charts, it stayed at the top for 5 weeks before going on to become a massive hit in nearly every other country. “Sugar Baby Love” sold over 8 million copies and went on to become one of the classic pop records of all time. The Rubettes followed up with a string of international hits including: “Juke Box Jive”, “Tonight”, “I Can Do It” “Foe Dee Oh Dee” etc. Paul Da Vinci released several “solo” million selling hits like “ You’re Baby Ain’t Your Baby Anymore”, “If You Get Hurt” and “It Hurts To Be In Love”. The Rubettes enormous international success and a very hectic schedule of touring and T.V appearances throughout the World eventually took its toll and they retired in 1980. The various members followed a natural progression of solo projects and alternative musical ventures, before the band re-formed a few years later. Distinctive vocal harmonies and a unique presentation, make the Rubettes one of the most popular bands from the 70’s Glam-rock era. Our band has a wealth of experience and professionalism, with original founder member Bill Hurd - Keyboard/Vocals, Alex Bines – Drummer since their re-formation in 1982 and it exclusively features the amazing and unmistakeable voice of “Sugar Baby Love” - Paul Da Vinci ! The ability to reproduce the Rubettes fabulous sound live makes this band highly sought after for concerts, festivals and musical events all over the World. With an entertaining and dynamic stage act this is arguably the Rubettes line-up and the future looks very bright with a new album set for release in 2004.
