Review  at Oldienight in Basel on the 7th may

Already before opening the people pushed in front of the hall in streaming rain and wet cold weather. Beside  the hall in the stadion a football match took place and some of the fans meant to disturbe the harmony between the stadion and the Oldies fans. But it wasn't able to harm the anticipation of the meeting of our idols and the music. 17.30 opening. Finally in the hall. Totally frozen but happy. Now first a glas of Champagne to get the right mood.   18.20 , we enter the hall. The seats are filled . But that's not important. We wanna go down inside the hall in front of the stage. We wanna be near to the event and rock.  18.35 it begins with 5 min. late. Smoke on the stage , then the moderator who keeps it short and present the first guest. George McCrae is on the stage. With "Rock me Baby" and some other songs he took the hearts of the people brought the important mood for a good point to start from.

After George McCrae the Rubettes stormed the stage. They played songs like Sugar baby love or Foe dee od dee and other songs . The mood was great.Boney M are the next . With Amazing graze they got the right mood. Songs like "Sunny" they bring changed into modern style. Although I wasn't  so enthusistic , anyhow we wanted hear oldies , they brought mood with it. Songs like "Daddy Cool" or "Rivers of Babylon" and others  they sang lie we all knew them. Excellently. From time to time Dave Ashby came  with parts of oldies which we sang with loudly. The man only brought such a mood with his guitar. Incredible. He also looks good what let the heartbeat of the woman climb. He got a teddy for that. Now it was time for the Drifters. the brought beautiful Oldies of the sixties. But one remarked that the songs where too old for some. The mood settled down a bit. Dave Ashby  spoiled us with great songs for some minutes, which brought the mood to top immediatly. Then the time came, Suzi Quatro stormed the stage . My god, this woman looks great. That certainly some woman under the people thought  and that power she had. She made the hall shake. The audience went wild and wore themself out. "Can the can" gave the rest. The hall shaked under applause and join in. As she  left the stage everybody asked himself , what was that and what happend. After this experience we thought of a calm part. No , Dave Dee, Dozy , Beaky ; Mick & Tich came and it went on. Songs like "Zabadak" , "Save me" or "Bent it" brought the mood.  With the whip , from which also the security man took cover , they brought the song " the legend of Xanadu". All I can say , these guy still got it.The Sweet finished this evening or the night .We were so tired that we just heared the first song in the hall and then went for fresh air and heared the rest from outside.

It was again a such great experience  and we enjoyed this night completly.
